My First Boarding: Start of A New Journey

One year ago, I was a fresh graduate from the Faculty of Business Administration at Bilkent University, trying to figure out my next step and waiting eagerly for responses from the companies I had applied to. I was looking for a place where I could balance both professional and social life.

Thankfully, I found a place where I could travel freely and grow both personally and professionally. From our first visit to the headquarters, I met an amazing team: Ceyda Yavaş , Fatma Sarı and Emir Aksoy who supported us through the adaptation process and made us feel like we truly belonged.

Over the past 10 months, I’ve had the chance to work with inspiring colleagues whose support made my transition from student life to corporate life a smooth one, where learning is a part of every day.

The FLY Talent Program is more than a new graduate initiative. It is a journey. Thanks to the structured training and mentorship by our Learning and Development Department, I’ve gained new perspectives and discovered the limitless world of aviation.

From joining HRCoreLab in Barcelona and learning about AI and agility, to participating in cross-functional trainings, the learning never stopped. Exploring Boeing and hidden corners of the airport felt like living a childhood dream. I’ve always loved airports, and now I get to be part of one.

Our Ground Operations training in İzmir, led by Birsen Marmara and her incredible team, reminded us of the importance of communication in the field. Beyond the field trips we participated in, it became also possible for us to explore digital tools like SAP and RPA to support our teams on the path to digitalization. We were always encouraged to ask questions and stay curious.

We also had a chance to learn about who we are and our colors thanks to Nurşen Üner. In this training we had to chance to communicate effectively. This training helped us think about our relationships and approaches to different people. Had a chance to think about our personal growth and how to find personal balance in the corporate life.

What makes SunExpress truly special is its multicultural environment. With colleagues from diverse backgrounds and offices in different cities, the opportunity to connect, collaborate and travel is always present.

I even had the chance to return to the Bilkent Career Fair, this time as an alumna, to introduce the internship and new graduate opportunities at SunExpress with my classmates which are also my dear colleagues from SunExpress. Additionally, seeing an increased number of interns from Bilkent University showed and reminded me how meaningful it is when sharing our story inspires others to take that step and become part of the journey.

You might wonder what life after graduation will look like. At SunExpress, it’s a bright, supportive and dynamic environment full of learning, growth and real-world experience. In the FLY Talent Program, you're not just a new graduate. You're a valued part of the team from day one.

They say be careful what you wish for. I wished for a workplace where I could travel, laugh, learn and grow, and I found it on my very first boarding.

Together to new heights, where we work hard and travel harder.✈️☀️
